Obama's Speech

I am beginning to get the feeling that I was witness to an historical event last night, in listening to Obama's speech. As I was listening, and more importantly - afterward I started to review all that I'd been up to with my life - things that are on my list that haven't gotten done, etc.. It was as if I were listening to Kennedy, during his speech where he said .. "Ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country." Then, on a more personal level I began to realize that guys like Tiger Woods and Barack Obama are taking us places that we're really not comfortable going. Placing high out of Harvard Law, fighting through Daly's political machine, Working through the United States Senate to the Oval Office.. isn't much different, really , than negotiating the dangerously fast greens of the 10th, or nailing a driving down the 11th at Augusta. When I was young, one of the most significant moments of my life was watching Nic

Jesus Didn't Have a Wife

Ok, I've been married way too many years. Somewhere around this day or yesterday or tomorrow I'm going to hit that trip wire and the teenage year anniversary IED will drop me like a sack of wet garbage. So to commemorate this occasion, here's the inside story on the whole thing behind why Jesus did not have a wife.. enjoy.. :-) Please take notes. There will be a Quiz later on this.

Biden

He's a pretty decent candidate; his experience in foreign policy will save our country so much money its hard to understand why any conservative wouldn't buy off on the Obama/Biden ticket. And if you think its not expensive to be pouring 200 billion dollars a year into failed foreign policy initiatives, think again. When we had capable presidents like Kennedy and Ike, we handled the same threat levels - in fact, even bigger threat levels - with skill and economy. In the end, I guess we all have to come to terms with the fact that the Bush administration allowed a massive attack to occur on American soil, destroyed the Pentagon, then cut deals with nearly every big energy and military hardware company to make us all think that the 100 dollar tax refund we got in the mail is going to save us from the 200 billion dollar a year bills they're running up burning off their old hardware in the desert - and grifting us with middle east oil pricing scams at the gas pump. I know

The Prayer of St. Francis

Image
Lord, make me an instrument of Thy peace;   where there is hatred, let me sow love;   where there is injury, pardon;   where there is doubt, faith;   where there is despair, hope;   where there is darkness, light;   and where there is sadness, joy.   O Divine Master,   grant that I may not so much seek to be  consoled as to console;   to be understood, as to understand;   to be loved, as to love;   for it is in giving that we receive,   it is in pardoning that we are pardoned,   and it is in dying that we are born   to Eternal Life.   Amen.

Doing what I am supposed to be doing

Even though the race isn't ever going to be won And I am old and grey and fat and useless Even though the world is full of corruption I am doing what I am supposed to be doing Even as I write and the world isn't quite Ever going to be the nice place we want it to be We pay for our victories against the dark one I've got to get done what I'm supposed to get done I know its not the same to be sitting here in eight fold way Four of me to the four winds and Four of me to the Four Time Then, Now, Here and There. Just another way to feel we're travelling To be doing what it is we're supposed to be doing How do we feel time? Can we feel it without space When I get drunk I can't feel my face Sometimes I like to look At women dressed in lace Maybe the sun will set on me but I am doing whatever it is I am supposed to be doing So don't expect to tangle with me today Don't even think about picking a fight with me whatever you do

Voulez Vous Couchez - Moulin Rouge

The single worst opening ever

The worst writing contest is over and we have a ... winner.. A man who made the grotesque comparison of a steamy love affair to a New York City street. I guess you could say.. Garrison Spik : "Theirs was a New York love, a checkered taxi ride burning rubber, and like the city their passion was open 24/7, steam rising from their bodies like slick streets exhaling warm, moist, white breath through manhole covers stamped 'Forged by DeLaney Bros., Piscataway, N.J.'" airsickness bags can be conveniently found in the seat pocket in front of you

Writing Assignment

Tonight my young son was assigned to read a favorite book and then select a sentence and tell the class the reason he chose that sentence. This is the sentence my son selected + on his own +: On October 4, 1957, the Former Soviet Union shocked the world by putting the worlds first artifical satellite into earth orbit You could have tipped me over with a feather. He really had trouble focussing on the assignment, he had a hard time just sitting down to fill out the worksheet. He spent the better part of a late rainy afternoon reading the book - an astronomy book that was probably written for a kid maybe six years above his age - but I helped him sit down and finally get it done. He kept ignoring me so finally I got a banana and drew a face on it and said, hey listen - if you want to keep ignoring what I am saying and talking to me like you are talking to a watermelon, here - talk to this banana guy. Sure enough about 12 seconds later he launches into one of his long intricate st

Limited Circle

For Franz Kafka Its not really sex The highest duty is to be married, to have children So we can do this, he said She isn't really happy Her greatest hope is to be married, to have children But we can do this, she said She draws back and takes him in her mouth And he fills her With moist expectation He wants to whisper words into her ear And for a while she believes him He pops a drug to make him potent Its the new thing, everyone is doing it He's hard like a rock, purplish veins Tracing the shaft of his cock To be married, to have children The highest duty of all She likes it when he holds her rougly And when he reciprocates Paying just attention to her sex but not her body There is nothing new under the sun Nothing to distract But he looks up to the sky As his muscles contract And he becomes a part of the world of ghosts the little death smile She wipes her mouth and smiles Pearls shining on her skin traces of him and lies b

Tom's Diner - Suzanne Vega

The book idea

I am going to write a book. Thats right, a way-cool novel. The idea is pretty simple. I am going to engage the reader at a level no reader has ever been engaged before. Thats why I love Cormac McCarthy so much. Read his books. They really work with the reader. So. It's summer. What kind of novel, would you really like to read?
