My Message to Congress, on August 1, 2011

I am, in many parts equal measure liberal and conservative. I feel that liberal governance suits well a country for wartime - its citizens grow victory gardens, sacrifice for the war effort - and focus the power of the country toward victory. Likewise, in peacetime, the structures and edifices that we build to administer a country - should be properly disassembled and set towards the goal of building free markets and, like the internet, follow a model of libertarian expansion.

And so, each year - I listen to both Republican and Democratic candidates. I often vote on either side of the ticket. I am a strong supporter of healthcare reform, financial reform - and I feel that our country has made great strides in rebuilding itself after the great Bush Republican Crash of 2008.

Today is August,1 , 2011 - and the Republican party is attempting to crash our economy again. They are doing so with an artificial crisis that they engineered. They are so disunited that they could not even pass their own Majority Leaders Bill - (the Boehner bill was 'tweaked' , reportedly - but in fact, was rewritten to add such a major item that it was in effect, not even the same bill anymore). They are crashing our economy for a blind principle.

So. I say. Dear Congress: Every virtue is a median between two extremes. Listen to your conservative base. Listen to the majority of Republicans. I grant you that 1/3 of all GOP are now calling themselves TEA party members - but this is a different party altogether. And , to be quite honest, although they've got some great ideas, there are moments when they really don't have a clue.

And to Democrats... Make sure you understand that putting our financial house in order is a priority. Don't spend what you don't have. Work with the elements of the Republican party that represent real change. Not just lobbyist funded change. There is a second law of entropy at play - the world economy is tied to our economy. You can't buy your way out of a global economic meltdown. And please, Democrats - try to remember. You're not elected by the banks. You're elected by the people. Almost everything you've done so far to clean up the toxic waste of the Bush Republican crash has been to take care of the banks. Corporate profits have risen 300 percent over the past 20 years, and real wages for the hardworking Americans that made it that way - by only 10 percent. Get out of the pocket of big business and bring us into the 21st century. The people in the GOP that are trying to do that, are really closer to your way of thinking - than you would believe. And while you're at it? Please get Elizabeth Warren to run for Senate.

Thanks.

Both of you please sign and pass the bill before you now. I'm planning on buying a new home in the next two years. I don't want another economic crash. I don't need to see my country , as an Uncle Sam that is trying to hide from his debtors and is too afraid to answer the door that he sits in the dark. Working together, you can fix what is broken. Thank you.
