"Moving pictures are exhibited in about ten thousand theaters and halls in the United States. With the rapid spread of this new amusement has also come a marked change in the public taste. Spectators were once quite content with a view of factory employees going to and from work, the arrival and departure of railway trains, and similiar scenes. Nowadays, a more or loss coherent story must be unfolded, for which reason the makers of moving pictures have been compelled to write plays (or at least conceive them) and to have them acted before the camera."

And hello motion pictures!

I love this!

I love how this depicts a change in society and the shift in the needs for a new form of entertainment. This was one of my favorite things about studying the history of fashion, how changes take place depending on what's going on at the present times. It's fascinating!
