The Eighties

At first I thought
Everyone had gone crazy
but maybe, the walkman and CD Audio
had changed everyone for the better

They could hear, for the first time
the tiniest little sounds
and worlds of film and art opened
as film hit the format for VCR

The Eighties were a door from Disco
to the independent Generation X
And maybe everyone was a little crazy
from all the really great sex
at CYO
I traded it for cool change
out on the sea alone
staring at the ocean like a lover

I remember her black GTO
and babysitting her catholic sisters children
Teaching them all to do yoga
playing hard, until they almost fell over
to a quiet house and MTV

and then fall asleep
holding each other on the sofa
somewhere in Florida
