Church
These carvings adorn a temple of worship in India. They are a part of the vedic text known as the Karma Sutra - which, if you read a good translation - you may find sets you on a strong path - it is about social intercourse, how to live virtuously - and to be perfectly honest - it's actually not that much different in many respects to some christian text.
I go to church. That doesn't mean that I am interchangeable, like batteries - just another talking head - I am aware that , like the picture of the Church above - much of what is written in the Bible is cryptic and ancient. I might however, have a different view about life and worship - I am at Church to worship - and to help understand your view of life - I am there to be a friend. With benefits. :)
I would be just as happy going to this church, as any other. After all the Karma Sutra is about living well - alot of what goes on in the erotic rituals of the Sutra (if properly translated) carries a deep and unapologetic respect for feminine sexuality, and playfulness. Some of it is misogynistic bullshit. It's typical church.
When I look up at the picture of the church above I see people sucking at soft orifices, and they upon the shaft of their lover - I see human beings enjoying each other sensually. I see people being very kind and somewhat brutal (but then again, dominance and submission weave through the fabric of all reality) - I see trust. Friendship. And a very clear message that maybe just sitting around playing video games and listening to your ipod isn't going to cut it.
To be honest, if we went to church this week and there were pictures of Bettie Page up on the altar I think that would totally rock. I have made a final decision this week - that if I ever have an F16, I will paint an image of Bettie on the nose. Some people wonder why it was so easy for her to translate her life into the life of a missionary..
But for me, I could see how she could enjoy a missionary position.
